Week 40: made a web component, more Hades II, and Yi Yi
Weeknote #40.25, from September 29 to October 05.
Published on .This week we booked a one-week vacation to the south of Spain; it's the first proper vacation I get this year!
Listened #
- Another full-spin on Dream Theater's Parasomnia. Bend The Clock and The Shadow Man Incident keep rising on my personal rankings.
Watched #
- Finished Ghosts' Season 1. A nice and cozy comfort show.
- Continued Abbot's Elementary Season 4; episodes 19-21.
- Continued The Bear's Season 4 with episode 7, "Bears (The Wedding)". It's wild seeing so many guests actors showing up in this one. More than 1 hour long; felt like a great short-film.
- Continued Peacemaker's Season 2, with episode 7 "A Keith In The Night". It goes from crazy to hilarious to surprising to heartbreaking in a short while;
was emotional whiplash. John Cena's performance is tremendous. - This week's One Piece, episode 1145. It's annoying that
is taking so long. - ⭐ Yi Yi's (25th anniversary 4K restoration) at LAB111. "...we live three times as long since man invented movies". At almost 3 hours long, Yi Yi is one of those perfect examples of this extension of our lives. It's a window to the events and ups-and-downs in the lives of the members of a seemingly regular family in 2000's Taipei. By watching it, my world became a bit more connected, more diverse, and more interesting.
Played #
- Continued Hades II and it keeps on giving thrills, great character moments, and delightful dialogues. I finally beat
for the first time (and then a few times afterwards) as well as and at last once. And it still feels like the game keeps revealing new things every Night. - Tried the demo for Absolum and immediately loved the hand-drawn art-style; it's eye candy with Hades-like structure.
- Having lots of fun with the Squads mode (4v4) in Rocket League.
Moved #
- Kept doing to daily Rajio Taisou routines almost every day
- Played table tennis at the office — got complimented on my improved returns!
Went out #
- To LAB111 for movies. It was the last day of Camera Japan Film Festival, and they had an onigiri and mochi mini-shops on the lower floor; it was the most crowded I've ever seen that floor. Good vibes.
- To De Hallen for the Vinyl Fair. Did a lot of crate digging but couldn't find anything that I wanted to take home. I did get a couple of mini-vinyl coasters and 3d-printed 7" adapter with a Lego top.
- To Camino for my favourite tacos and michelada in town.
Read #
- "In Defence of Enshittification" by Andy Budd. I've felt that sting of having to sacrifice product quality and user experience in the altar of revenue. Indeed, it stings because it's often necessary.
- Started reading "A Night In The Lonesome October" by Roger Zelazny. It has 31 chapter and each one covers one day in October, so I'm reading one chapter per day.
Created #
- Built a small Web Component to hide spoilery text on this website:
<bbq-spoiler>
Web Component. I'm using it proper for the first time on this page, above!
